Ask any GTA fan what they want from the series' next map and the answer is the same: bigger, denser, more alive. Leonida — Rockstar's take on Florida — appears set to deliver on all three.
Community mapping projects, which correctly predicted most of GTA V's Los Santos before release, estimate the playable landmass at roughly one and a half times GTA V. The water area is the real story though: with the Keys chain in the south and the Everglades-inspired swamps inland, boats and seaplanes may finally matter as much as cars.
Leonida's main coastal metropolis returns as the crown jewel, and this time it is not alone. Trailer footage and leaked coordinates point to at least three additional urban zones, including a Port Gellhorn based on the panhandle's faded resort towns.
Interior density is the metric Rockstar seems most proud of. Insiders repeatedly claim more enterable buildings in GTA VI's main Leonida metro area alone than in all of GTA V — from strip mall pawn shops to high-rise penthouses.
The southern island chain deserves special attention: if the community's drivable-highway estimate holds, driving from Leonida's main metropolis to the southernmost key would take about forty real-time minutes. That is not a map, that is a state.
We will keep updating this piece as new confirmations land.
Good summary. Worth noting the 1.5x estimate is landmass only — with water it's closer to 2.5x total playable area.
Forty minute drive down the Keys... that's longer than some entire game maps
